Gueeeeeeeeeeess what.

The reason why domestic DVD prices are what they are is because not only is there a much smaller demand for them than, say, the latest Hollywood blockbuster going for $15 a disc, but the Japanese companies set the prices.

Do you know why they do? Because in Japan, they sell their DVDs for high prices as well (usually with less episodes, unless I'm mistaken). They don't want their domestic market buying from overseas. You wouldn't happen to know why their DVDs are so high, do you?

That'd be because of the rampant piracy going on in China. Whooooops. That sounds just a little familiar...I wonder if that's contributing to the problem at all...hum...

In short, crai moar. I got the entire Desert Punk series in a nifty metal tin with some cool book inserts for $35. If you can somehow manage to delay the gratification a bit, you can watch your anime series after you finish House and the Simpsons.

Not to mention you need to start shopping for anime at Best Buy instead of wherever you're getting it from. $30 is ridiculously high. I usually get my single DVDs for around $15-$20.

tl;dr.

edit: OK, sorry, I was just miffed at the tone of your post. I'm not really an anime person (I buy video games); I can count on one hand the amount of anime I've watched from start to finish, and none of it was licensed when I started watching it, so I sort of needed to watch it online fansubbed to get it. There's no need for me to 'crai more' over something I don't really care about.

I'm just stating my opinion. The prices are too high and the justification for setting the prices that high are not enough to make me STOP watching a series when I'm in the middle of it and waiting for an english version to come out months later, starting with episodes I already watched.

So, yeah. :/ Sorry my opinion of anime DVDs doesn't bode with yours.
