Piglet's not a girl??

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Piglet is consistently refereed to with male pronouns in A. A. Milne's books and the Disney animations. John Fielder was Piglet's voice from 1968 until his death in 2005.

the piglet pictured in this secret is clearly a girl; she has cameltoe

I always thought Piglet was a boy, but I was shocked to discover Rabbit was also male.

Shit, I thought half the cast were female characters...

Piglet, Owl, Rabbit...

Don't ask me why, but it's also been a long ass time since I've watched or read anything Winnie the Pooh and it stuck with me.

Well, look at it this way: Piglet had to have had parents, so there must be females of his species. I'd just see it as a different piglet.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
When I was a kid it bugged me that Piglet wasn't a girl. I thought he should have been, being small and pink (not that there's any reason a boy can't be small and pink, I just associated those traits with girls as a kid. And there weren't any other females except Kanga).

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
He is pink because baby pigs aka piglets are pink and the character is based off Christopher Robin's stuff animals.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't remember my thoughts on Piglet, but as a kid I was determined to believe that Eeyore and Owl were girls. Eeyore wears a pink bow after all, and I think after seeing The Fox and the Hound I somehow had the idea that all owls are girls...

Piglet is a boy according to Disney. Piglet is even referred to as HE in the books so whoever told you is wrong.

I always read rabbit as a girl and now I think it must be partly due to my internalised perspective on his worried mothering control issues.

This thread is making me want to see a gritty take on winnie the pooh where piglet becomes neurotic about his masculinity since everyone assumes he's a girl and rabbit comes out as a trans woman while eeyore spirals into uncontrollable depression

This secret is super cute tbh :) That little piglet plushie is definitely a girl!

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
This reminds me, for some reason, of how disappointed I was when it turned out that Ducky from Land Before Time was a girl. For some reason, I was really invested in her being an effeminate boy.

This secret is a surprise to me because it's not about sunshine swearing to god that rabbit is a girl.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Perry sure she was just saying HER specific plush Piglet is a girl, not attaching that statement to other Piglets in fiction.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Cute idea your relative has and you should totally go along with it *for their stuffed toy*

But the rest is ridiculous. There is no misgendering as Piglet is very specifically a boy both in Milne's and Disney's stories. Forcing yourself to headcanon that he's a girl is stupid.

They're all males, except for

Kanga, obviously, and the Otter with a pearl necklace (I can't recall her name, she's new and not in any animated stuff yet as far as I know)

Image: A stuffed toy of Piglet from the "Winnie the Pooh" series

Text: A young relative of mine has a soft toy Piglet; it is their precioussssss.

Apparently this Piglet is a girl - so I have been told, very crossly, on a number of occasions when I have automatically referred to it as "he".

I've started to feel very guilty about my continuous, albeit involuntary, misgendering of poor plushie-Piglet - and completely unable to decide whether this guilt is righteous or ridiculous.

...Either way, I'm trying to force my headcanon to accept that Disney's Piglet is a girl (but only Disney's; not Milne's - after all, they're clearly separate entities.)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I used to feel that Rabbit was a female myself.

but this secret gets a lot funnier when you see that the piglet plush has a little plush vagina.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
This secret reminded how I, until my teenage years, wasn't really sure of Piglet's, Rabbit's and Eeyore's "genders". Note: English ain't my first language, my mother tongue doesn't have gendered pronouns. I have no idea how my brain has glitched with cartoons, because if I remember correctly all three of them - well I'm not sure about Piglet but Rabbit and Eeyore at least - had male voice actor dubbing them.

I guess I didn't just care. In my child mind they could have been female, somehow.

I... I always thought they were all boys except Kanga. Apparently this is not a common conception? The voice for Rabbit was still boy-ish to me...
