A lamp flickered on. It was Hermione Granger, wearing a pink bathrobe and a frown.
"You!" said Ron furiously. "Go back to bed!"
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

I don't know about in the rest of the books, but Hermione does where pink, at least once.

well to be fair, that was before she became friends with Harry & Ron and was described as shrill and annoyingly uptight.

But wasn't the idea that Harry and Ron realized they were wrong about her?

Plus, IDK, I doubt that she got rid of it immediately post-troll, so we can infer she still has it? I'm pretty sure, at least.

"Hermione had become a bit more relaxed about breaking the rules since Harry and Ron saved her from the mountain troll..." etc.
I think they all eased up a bit and trusted each other after the troll fight.

Still could be argued that Joanne uses pink as sign for something silliness, s. Hagrid's umbrella as well.
Green, gold and red also have certain associations in the book, after all.

I'm not arguing against that! Not at all, but... I don't see why that'd mean she'd get rid of her robe?

I mean, I agree that colors have meanings, but considering that pink shows up three times (to the best of my knowledge w/ Hermione's robe, Hagrid's umbrella, and Umbridge's Umbridge), and Umbridge is in no way "silly", I don't know if I'm comfortable ascribing anything to that color, unlike green/gold/red which are used consistently throughout the books.

I don't think she got rid of it in universe either.

Well, there's Pansy Parkinson wearing pink at the Yule Ball (while Hermione wears blue. geez, there was so much displaced rage about her pink dress in the movie!). Parvati and Padma wear shades of pink for the same occasion.

Take that as you will.

Huh, I didn't remember what they wore. |D

To be fair, Parvati and Padma aren't really the bad guys ever either, and their annoyance at Harry & Ron is understandable, since Ron and Harry were kind of dicks during the dance. |D

True, they were gossipy at times, but pretty decent.

I guess the interpretation could really go either way, if we had just one over the top frilly feminine pink liking character who's shown as cool.

Sleuthing after a colour is surprisingly difficult, lol. You would think somebody should have made a compilation or analyzed it by now, at least in HP.

Right? I mean, I bet there are some for the "main" colors (red/green/silver/gold/etc.), but the "minor" colors is a bit harder. |D

didn't tonks sport pink hair for a while?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't remember, but Tonks had a very different style from Umbridge and Fleur. Even if her hair was pink, it would be more "edgy" or alternative than girly.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Pink is allowed on bathrobes, surely?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Was that when they still think she's just this annoying girl, before she became their friend? That would explain it. The pile of evidence grows.
loracarol: (why hello there ^_~)

[personal profile] loracarol 2015-03-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I don't honestly remember? But considering we have no proof that she immediately threw it out as soon as they became friends...

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
But it's no longer mentioned afterwards, or was it?

been years since I read the books

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, that's at the beginning of the first book, where Hermione is still someone the protagonists dislike. You don't know that later on, she'll be someone you're supposed to like.

[personal profile] loracarol 2015-03-10 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, Harry and Ron dislike her, but I never got the idea that the readers were also supposed to dislike her too?
