I can definitely see the authors of the assigned fics feeling a bit dogpiled, and that's where I think it skirted the lines of etiquette a bit. It also adds a personal dimension to the idea of literary analysis that I don't think should really be there.

And I completely agree with your second paragraph! Fandom shouldn't be so serious, man.

Dogpiled is probably a good word for it if the reviews were pretty harsh. These issues could've been avoided if they had just discussed the fic in class.
