I can only appreciate jazz as white noise. It's really good white noise, but I have to be in the mindset where I don't actually care about music.

"Synchronicity II" is technically more impressive and lyrically far more interesting than "Bohemian Rhapsody." It might not be as fun/easy to sing along to with your friends on a road trip, but I consider it vastly superior in all other respects.

I don't think Avril Lavigne's first album was that bad. A bit teenagery, but she was a teenager and that's how teenagers sing/think/feel. I loved her as a teen but felt like I had to hide it. Ironically I thought SK8er Boi was stupid, even though it was a hit.

Never got into her stuff after that.

Metal music is decent, but that screaming thing the singers do is just so much noise.

"I Don't Wanna Die" is a terrible, terrible song, and I hate how it keeps showing up in fanvids.

On a related note, if you're just talking and not actually singing, your song probably sucks.

A radio DJ for an electronica station here didn't know who Carl Cox was, and that was sort of the final nail in the coffin for me: electronica is dead. Singles are coming and going so fast now, with no names being made, that it's just not sustainable.

Dave Grohl is a really good drummer, but he's not some sort of gift from the gods. I think his main talent is being good at jamming and also in collaboration. There are many drummers that are far more technically brilliant and able than he is.

I hate when CDs have live performances, and the song'll be sad or touching and you can hear fans screaming with joy for the first two minutes. It just takes me out of the song completely.

I honestly find musical elitism and 'judging' people for their taste to be pointless.

If they're not jamming their headphones in your ears or making you listen to it all day, who cares what they listen to? It doesn't affect you.

(Since we're on a Beatles-related kick today) I like a fair amount of Yoko Ono's music. Even when it isn't good I find it greatly entertaining.

I think Beyonce has some good pop songs but is ludicrously overrated as a performer/personality

I've always had a soft spot for Maroon 5

I'd genuinely rather listen to Iggy Azalea than most/any/all of the female rappers who are supposed to be sooooo much better and more talented than her

Every single one of The Strokes' songs sounds excatly the same (and they're all boring)

I don't understand music. Most of it sounds the same to me. I could never go to a something, like a gig, where music was the main attraction, I'd be so bored. I feel weird admitting this IRL since music seems to mean so much to people.

I don't feel that you need to speak a language to enjoy a song. I love Japanese pop/rock, but I have French music, Spanish music, Korean music, Italian music, Persian music, etc on my computer/mp3 player as well and as long as I enjoy the tune, it doesn't make a difference to me.

Plus half the time I can't understand what a lot of English singers are mumbling anyway. >.>:

I can't stand Adam Levine. His face annoys me, his voice annoys me...and yet, I still like some of his songs. And I find myself desiring to read maroon5 fic. I don't read bandfic. I don't read that kind of fic. But want to. Because of him.

Look what he's encouraged. I can't stand him.
