I completely understand the frustration when people invade tags with negativity or make rude/disgusting comments on appearances. But HOLY SHIT does stuff like this make interracial shipping painful as hell.

1. Like one of the commenters said above, there's a kernel of valid criticism in there. It is a little frustrating when one ship that by all means should be the fandom darling but gets ignored seemingly because one half of the pair is a minority.
However, the poster here is clearly just using that as a thinly veiled excuses used to rage on people who don't share their OTPs

There's always been folks who latch on to this sort of language to justify why someone else's ship is so, so wrong and gross and how it's totally because of legitimate social issues reasons and not because I'm annoyed that my ship isn't as popular or canon as I think it should be.
Back then it was "Katara/Aang is pedophilia!" and "Ron/Hermione is abusive!". Just roll your eyes, ignore it, add the blog to your blacklist, and keep on shipping what you love.

I can just imagine being that person -- working hard on those gifs, loving the pairing, wanting to contribute to the fandom. And then BAM...you get called racist. :(

And I just...I really wish people didn't do this. Because it drives potential fans AWAY.

It's always been the opposite for me. I've seen some REALLY obnoxious and gross Steve/Tony and Thor/Loki shippers, but almost all of the Sam/Steve shippers have been usually pretty cool and lax. Idk maybe it's different for each fandom.

The Sam/Steve ship is a beautiful thing.

I like Sam/Steve as a ship, but I've seen some rather gross comments from the shippers so I stay away from them. Mostly comments about how the only reason anyone would not ship Sam/Steve is because they're racist, especially if they ship Stucky or Stony or any other Steve/white guy ship.

What kills me, speaking as a black woman who ships Steve/Sam (and the occasional Bucky in between, mrrre-YOOOW), the VAST majority of people who I've seen claiming that... were white.

Agreed. Steve/Tony fandom is just TOXIC and the level of hate they level at other characters (mostly Pepper and Peggy) that get in the way of their precious widdle holier-than-canon ship is just nauseating.

First post has a point but the second one is shit and uncalled for!
Op probably doesn't make edits and can't use photoshop otherwise they'd know the difference between a psd coloring making the lights more obvious and a psd coloring whitewashing poc. Also maybe their pc screen is the problem because here on mine the color of the actress skin doesn't look darker in the pictures they put.

Brown to light skinned black actresses are already whiutewashed by the lights in photoshoots and the flashes on the red carpet pictures, so when people try to make a nice edit out of these pictures few psds will work.
