(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 07:17 am (UTC)(link)Now, that's not to say I don't expect people to comment on any fanfic I post publicly, negatively or positively. I do expect people to keep in mind that it isn't professional and doesn't pretend to be professional and that I have feelings that can be hurt. That said, I think I would be more bewildered by getting those reviews than anything else. I do think if you are going to assign fanfic for students critique, the students should be familiar with the canon, otherwise it's kind of like a film student critiquing an additional scene without seeing the film it was based on (whether the scene was fan-made or not).
