...Man, this secret and thread are just further proof that I really should never have children. I can imagine having them, and loving them, but there's just no way that I could love them more than my spouse. That just seems terrible to me. :/

There isn't any "supposed to" about loving members of your created family beyond simply loving them. If you love your spouse with the fire of 1000 suns and your kids with the fire of 999, that doesn't make you horrible. Neither does having it happen the other way around make you superior or even just normal. What matters is that you love everyone as much as you can, and then keep going past that. (And if you can't, figure out why and do something about it.)
