I don't get you. You bitch about her when she talks about OCs, you bitch when she talks about writing, you bitch when she makes a comment, and when she left, you bitched about her still. You bitched at her for starting conversations about things not related to writing and stories.

It honestly seems that you don't like it when she says anything . You don't like that she exists period.

This kinda seems like something you should bring up with your friend and not air on a secrets community in hopes that they'll see it. I can tell you that doing this might make things worse.

I mean you're airing an issue between you to the public, and potentially embarrassing your friend by telling a bunch of strangers instead of being straight with them and them alone. I can tell you if I were in your friend's position I'd much prefer being talked to privately rather than having my friend tell a whole secrets comm about their secret feelings towards me.

I know I'm socially awkward and I imagine I can do/say things that may end up being unintentionally irritating. I appreciate it very much when people just confront me about these things politely instead of, you know, talking to a whole lot of some strange people elsewhere.

how do we know they haven't? and when said friend nods and says they'll do better and then five minutes later forgets they said anything and does it again, they make a secret to vent their spleen here in the expectation some of us might understand.

besides, let's be honest. some of us who've been in this situation have tried, and that friend is always so overinvested that any "hey could you please not?" comes off as "I hate you and everything you love and want you to go away" so the hesitation is understandable.

I kind of feel you OP. I've got a fandom friend who has this beloved OC that they stick into *everything*. Got a fun new story idea to share or an AU to discuss? 'OOoooh, well OC would be perfect for [role] in that!' 'Please please use OC!' 'If you need a [role], you can use OC for it!' and other variations that are basically 'Use my OC please so I can get free fic of said OC!'.

What makes it worse is that in our fandom, this friend has a more beloved romance starring their OC and a canon character. So they're always trying to wedge that into everything too, even when it makes no logical sense and is basically them taking a crowbar and a hammer to a fic's storyline/an AU's setup.

They've recently toned down on it at last, but it's always there, in the background, like a lingering shadow.....

I would suggest telling your friend nicely "hey I understand you're really passionate about your character, but I have ideas I want to explore that don't involve your OC." Or suggest that they write stories about their character.

Or you could always tell them that you wouldn't feel comfortable writing their character, because you don't know the character as well as they do.

(I guess you still could be, but I doubt it, as she gets really awkward if you mention fandom nowadays, which makes me think she's embarrassed by how she used to be. NGL, kinda wish she hadn't gone the opposite end, but what can you do?)

God, that's really annoying. You need to tell your friend ASAP that you want to be able to enjoy media without them shoehorning their OC's into everything. It reminds me of a friend that I had who always desperately wanted to talk about how a character would react to certain things. Except that the character was a character from a game that she basically destroyed to write them completely out of character in a fic. She essentially turned a good character into her own OC, it was horrible.

But you don’t have to insert them into everything we watch.

Can we talk about what we just saw before you shift to how your characters would fit into the world? Do you stop paying attention once you know enough to start sorting? If you’re not interested in something, don’t tell me you like it.

I've seen one used as a lid rest in Japanese tea ceremony... never expected to see a barei on fandomsecrets though. (Well, except maybe in a secret about Homer Simpson.)
