Is there a fanforum with plenty of discussion on the meta of the fandom? I'll make fanforum pretty broad, it can be a website with a forum, a newsgroup, a mailing list, a webring, journalling groups, any way that fans can come together and partake of threaded discussions on the characters, settings, and creator activities.

Number of people signing up for kink art and/or slashfic is not a good sign.

I agree completely, and wish more people thought about it like that. Unfortunately there's so little of it, I'm not really sure they do.

It gets worse, as the number of those community sites fall it means there are less places to link existing ones to, so less ways to bring in new blood and crosspromote so other fans can find them, which leads to a long slow spiral.
