I dunno... I figured it was because the vast majority of slash fans are cis women. The lack of a prostate probably kind of foils the whole comparison in being the receptive partner when it comes to anal sex.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to mention, why are we assuming every woman wants to be receptive? What if they prefer to top? Then it doesn't matter at all if anything goes in their own ass or not.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-26 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, that too. Plenty of women enjoy pegging but either way it's not totally representative of male-male penetrative sex, y'know?

You're not really going to get "what it feels like" except in a sort of peripheral sense.

This. I enjoy pegging and once in a great great while, receiving. Women really do feel it differently than men, which is fine. But yeah, it's not going to be the same as all the slash fic.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-27 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
This is what I commonly hear, yep.

Plus... this secret bothers me in that it assumes anal sex is something someone should do because of fandom and not because the idea of them having anal sex turns them on. Like because I like Call of Duty I should automatically want to go out and spend a million hours at the firing range or something.

Doesn't make sense.

I don't really think that's what it's trying to say. It seems more about finding it weird that people aren't more curious about this thing that they write and read about, which I can get. I'll admit that I'm surprised by how many people have such a strong answer to "why not?" It's not that I think they should do it, I just would have thought there would be more curiosity out there. But I may be more up for trying things that don't necessarily turn me on just out of curiosity than most people.

Well if you wanted to write Call of Duty I would absolutely tell you to get your ass to the range.

I didn't seem to read it that way. more like: look, you seem to really like this thing in fiction, and it's not unrealistic to get it, so why not try it?

If you seemed to be really into shooting games, it wouldn't be far out to actually go to a shooting range at least once in your life;

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
+1

IME it's actually pretty common (at least in fandom) for women to top/fantasize about topping.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhhh no.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
didn't we just have a thread about pegging yesterday?
philstar22: (Steve/Bucky)

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-03-26 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true. Plenty of women like anal sex, but it is a different experience for women then for men. And also, as other people have said, some women relate more to the top in slash fics than to the bottom.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-26 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Besides which, I feel it necessary to point out that not all gay men are having anal sex. Far from it.
philstar22: (Default)

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-03-26 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's totally true. Just like not every straight couple has vaginal sex. If everyone involved is getting off, it is sex. Not everyone needs to do everything. There may be many reasons why couples don't want to do something.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
No. Not "just like." The numbers are significantly different; just because we're equal doesn't mean queer people are the same as het people.

/curious cis female anon here

Why is it different? Women can't orgasm through anal?
philstar22: (Default)

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-03-27 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Women can. Of course they can (though only some women can orgasm through anal sex alone). But the feeling is different because the nerves are different.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting fact. In scientific studies where they measure both male and female orgasms, they measure reactions mainly through a probe placed in the anus. Women orgasm strongly in their anus. I did not know that!

I've known a couple ladies (straight male anon here) who come their damn brains out from being buggered. Like any orgasm, the psychological factors matter as much or more than the physical, but... hoo yeah.

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2015-03-26 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not all about the prostate.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-27 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I never said it was, just that it makes the experience different.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Is the prostate even that easy to hit in a meaningful way? It's not massive and you have to go in from a certain angle, from what I can gather. Most prostate massagers are shaped in a way that no healthy human penis could ever manage.

The prostate seems a bit like the clitoris, for a sizeable proportion of the population an unreliable source of orgasms from penetrative sex alone.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who pegs her bf on a regular basis...

I'm pretty sure most guys who do anal jack their dicks at the same time as being penetrated, much as many women rub their clits during vaginal. That's certainly what my bf does.

Hitting the prostate during anal sex is not that difficult. It's like hitting the G-spot with vaginal. You just have to wiggle around a bit and find the right angle.

Well, while obviously I can't say how similar or dissimilar it it, that doesn't mean it can't be something you like even though you don't have a prostate. And I'd assume it's similar enough as an experience.
