I hate grammar nazis, especially the ones that are smug and pedantic. Grammar mistakes happen sometimes, oh my god. And a grammar mistake isn't the end of the world, especially in internet comments.

As an English major, I agree. Unless it's a formal paper or something, there's no need to be "holier than thou" toward people just having an online chat (especially since a number of people I've met speak/write English as a second language).

I feel embarrassed even commenting under my username on this topic, because I'm sure there's someone out there going, "You are awful."

I try, internet. I try. (If I'm not sure how to spell something or if I think I might have the wrong word I'll google it. Or use something else. Still, mistakes happen.)

I'm a professional editor, and I NEVER correct grammar/usage/spelling online, nor do I ever want to. Also, my texting is full of "terrible grammar." Language is about communication, not perfection. Grammar nazis need to get better hobbies.
