My parents thought I was going to be a boy, and chose the name Andrew.

I came out a girl, and so they named me Andrea. Not too imaginative. ;)

Funny thing - people tend to just assume one pronunciation or another and call me that, and so I will answer to ANN-dree-uh, or AUN-dree-uh, or ahn-DRAY-uh. (Or Angela, as one very old and hard-of-hearing pastor at my old church called me.) I don't object to any of those pronunciations, but if I'm asked, I just tell people my parents gave me the name and they pronounce it ANN-dree-uh, so it's what I default to.

Funny, I'm a Jessica who would have been a Jesse. Andrew is my father's name, and my middle name was going to be "Andrea" (pronounced an-DRAY-ah) until he changed his mind and decided a nine-syllable full name was too much.
