Yeah, if I hadn't followed him on twitter to see his actual words, and never watched him on QI or any other TV shows where he's himself rather than acting, that might have worked.

Not sure why I should have to ignore him having become a sexist windbag just to please people who want to continue to adore him, but I guess that works for some.

Although, if I recall correctly, he does have some sort of Asperger's or something. So really, by being too judgmental about what he says, you're showing your neurotypical privilege.

Actually, claiming that non-neurotypical people are mindless children with no possibility of growth or development and who are so mentally sub-human that they can't take responsibility for their actions or comprehend the concept of apologizing after being a dick, and therefore should never be judged by the standards of human decency, is pretty much the most privileged and ableist thing I can imagine.

You don't need to be on Tumblr to hear about Stephen Fry. The fact that he has just left Instagram was literally a front page story on the Guardian yesterday. And dumb things he's said (like about women not wanting sex because they don't go cottaging) are publicised to a similar extent.
