I think I feel more affection for him based on his early work than some people. A friend of mine wrote him a fan letter back when we were teenagers, and he wrote the most lovely reply to her. So I suppose I see a sympathetic part to him. Also I see value in the work he does against mental illness stigma.

But I've lost a lot of enjoyment in him over the years. I think some of it's that he used to be part of the young, "alternative" kind of comedy, and now he's this esteemed figure who people are inclined to overrate and idolize. I suppose that's what OP meant about being part of the establishment. I'll certainly feel like banging my head against the wall if he ever gets a knighthood.
