That's not really so much a "funny" mood as it is you knowingly saying something unkind and rationalizing it as humor or "honesty", though. You know that, right?

You know, there's another thread where anons are ranting about fanfic not being fanfic enough for them, and here you want to get on me for criticizing fanfic?

Your comment was not criticizing fanfic, it was you saying you'd leave a condescending comment for a person whose writing you thought was "so bad it's hilarious" and acting like it was out of a playful mood instead of just being plain rude ;)

Oh, were you criticizing it? I thought you were being "funny". If you mean to actually criticize someone's fic, your remarks would probably still be considered rude because they're not at all constructive. They'd also be rude if the author didn't request concrit.

Protip: Don't try to pass off passive-aggressive insults as humor. It might fool some people who are far too nice to see through your mean spirited sniping, but everyone else will know exactly what you're doing and think less of you for it.

That kind of comment would make a person feel really shitty.
It's not even backhanded compliment it's just mocking.

Personally, I don't mind if someone finds my writing bad as long as they can explain what was so bad about it instead of just leaving it at one brief sentence and an winky face.

It's almost as bad as, "I laughed so much but your writing really sucks honey <3". If you didn't like the fic you don't have to be a condescending asshole about it.
