Oh my God. Just no. Stop trying to justify Snape's shittiness toward children. He didn't do it for a purpose, he did it because he's a shit and a bully who can't get over the fact that he was bullied and is therefore a huge hypocrite.

I mean, I love reading Snape, he's a fascinating character, but he's an asshole to his students. And no, Dumbles did not "encourage" Snape to be a piece of shit to children. *eyeroll* Harry's naming his son after Snape was all about Harry's capacity for forgiveness and his need to move on, and not really about Snape.
