As someone who hasn't watched a lot of porn, I have a weird (maybe?) question.

Do people in porn ever kiss?

All the results of my (admittedly short) foray into porn says no. Why is that?

Depends on the porn. The usual Silicone Valley hetero porn rarely shows couples kissing, but gay porn and lesbian porn sometimes do. Amateur porn is way more likely to show kissing than professionally produced porn.

Japanese lesbian porn shows a lot of ...things with tongues that might loosely be termed kissing.

Why is that though? Do people not enjoy kissing?

Well, most of the time professional porn actors aren't really into each other. They usually just met that day and are there to collect a paycheck, and directors direct scenes based on what they think their target audiences want to see. ...It's depressing how much porn simply follows a formula because of that reason.

This is less likely with amateur or niche actors, especially if it's just couples filming themselves for fun and profit.

On the other hand, there's a lot of call for lesbian actresses to kiss because it's what the audience wants, ostensibly. Really what happens in porn is what's directed to happen in porn, not what the actors would normally do if they were left to their own devices.

They do sometimes. Like everything else it all depends on what nice you're watching. I would say the artsy/soft/romantic stuff has the most kissing, and then probably lesbian stuff in second.

Ever? Yeah. You can find pretty much anything in porn.

There's a noticeable lack of it in (het) porn as far as I've seen. I can't speak for the other kinds, I've watched even less of those.

In the (professional) gay porn I've watched, yes, pretty much in every video. Haven't watched as much lesbian and straight porn, but not many kisses were spotted.

Oh yes, you've just gotta look for it! I find a lot of porn involving kissing by browsing tumblr, believe it or not. You can also find some stuff with kissing at r/chickflixxx, and James Deen makes a lot of porn that's rough and sensual at the same time, if you're into that (what I personally love about his scenes is it's always obvious that everyone's having a genuinely good time).

And if you have any interest in lesbian porn, lesbian porn made by actual lesbians usually has plenty of kissing.

Why does a lot of porn not have it? Because the audience (or presumed audience) is more interested in the, uh, mechanical aspects than in anything else. The idea is to showcase the actors' bodies and genitals (which is also why they tend to get contorted into ridiculous positions that aren't actually pleasurable in real life), and there's little regard for anything else.

Eh. More and more I feel like the proper explanation for this is going to have more to do with genre than any intrinsic biological difference in sex

Yes. Unfortunately, there is often a lot of tongue and licking and kissing in porn actually kind of grosses me out. I usually skip the kissing part and go straight to the sex.

It's very common in written porn, and I've seen it in vanilla hentai as well.

I like my porn free-range and ethically sourced. : )

Serious answer: They definitely do, but mostly in specific genres. Frequently in either really soft-focus, well-lit, "sensual" "romantic" stuff (sometimes also identified as being specifically for women) which unfortunately tends to be kind of wan and lifeless, or in lesbian porn, because for some reason porno makers are only willing to admit it's oht in that context.
