5) I've never heard the term "like burning" until this past week, all in secrets here. :/ Same person, maybe?

12) Oh my God, In fact, I'm convinced I made this secret and posted it in my sleep without my own knowledge. Seriously. It's both a blessing and curse. It's awesome when people tell you that you look "hot" as a male character, sure. But sort of depressing when you go back to dressing like a girl and realize you still look the same.

14) I would marry someone if they scanlated this manga, for real.

23) FUCKING SECONDED. Black Jack for the win, hottest doctor ever.

40) I'm seconding the person's comment back on page one. What am I supposed to do if I can't draw? I just can't RP ever, then, unless I hand-draw ornate art for all of my original characters? Sorry, but that's pretty much BS. (I prefer using photos of actual people over using art any day, though.)

On another note, I also think that saying people who play non-original characters aren't creative is BS as well. If anything, I think it takes a lot more creativity to play a character you didn't make, and play them WELL. It's so rewarding when people tell you that you play a non-original character well. (That said, most original characters lately are not very original at all, so I generally prefer non-OCs, myself.)

"like burning" isn't that rare of a phrase, at least not in my experience.

In fact, I use it all the time.

Odd. I've honestly never heard anyone use it before these secrets. Oh well! Thanks for educating me. :B

I responded on the first comment, but I'll repeat a bunch of it. If you cant draw, describe your character really well, or ask a friend to help you out.

I never said people who play non-original characters are not creative, though I do think original characters are more interesting personally. It does not take creativity to mimic something you have seen. Thinking for them in different situations for that character is more creative than nothing, but most people just say the same lines and actions from shows they have seen with out thinking about it. Most people DO NOT PLAY THEM WELL! Most people in general do not RP well at all, I'm willing to admit that. Anyways, why not save yourself and everyone else the pain and just make your own new character so no one can argue about being OOC.
If you are one of the few who can play a non-original character well, more power too you, but I see it as a waste of talent! I wish people would just try it for once, without being a Mary Sue, because it's a whole different idea. You have to build the person from the ground up, there is no framework to start with like with non-original characters. Ever original chracter is built of pieces that you might take from some where else, but you did have to do the work to put it together.

I will agree with you that most people do not do it well, nor RP well, like you said. I'll give you that much. However, I beg to differ on the other bits. It DOES take creativity to play characters that are not your own creation. No, it doesn't take a lot of creativity to "mimic" non-original characters, but it DOES take a lot of creativity and talent to write them WELL. It requires a lot of interest, insight, intelligence and WORK to be able to write someone else's character well.

It certainly takes more talent than writing your own character. With OCs, you have all of the information you need to play them available all the time. So of course you can play them well. Where's the challenge in that?

I play both, and I just find it vastly more rewarding to play non-OCs. In general, from my observations in RPs, people care a lot less about OCs than they do pre-existing characters from fandoms they like. I always always get more feedback and interest when I'm playing characters that aren't mine.

I think because, from what I'VE personally seen, original characters are not original AT ALL anymore. It's been a while since I've seen an OC that wasn't some generic cookie-cutter character that I actually enjoyed.

Those are just my opinions, anyway.

--------
Tl;dr: No. It takes tons more effort to play non-OCs. Especially since most people and their OCs suck hardcore anyway, and no one gives a shit about them these days.

Also, what do you call all the episode writers who have to take on characters that the creators of shows obviously made up? They are just writing second hand as well. So are book writers for popular fandoms that expand. Where do you think those people got their start? You have to practice somewhere, and some of us don't /want/ to use that 'talent' for anything more than fun anyway. I love to write and RP characters I don't own. But I don't want to be a writer. I want to be a makeup artist at a theater.
