(Anonymous) 2008-01-15 03:17 am (UTC)(link)I never said people who play non-original characters are not creative, though I do think original characters are more interesting personally. It does not take creativity to mimic something you have seen. Thinking for them in different situations for that character is more creative than nothing, but most people just say the same lines and actions from shows they have seen with out thinking about it. Most people DO NOT PLAY THEM WELL! Most people in general do not RP well at all, I'm willing to admit that. Anyways, why not save yourself and everyone else the pain and just make your own new character so no one can argue about being OOC.
If you are one of the few who can play a non-original character well, more power too you, but I see it as a waste of talent! I wish people would just try it for once, without being a Mary Sue, because it's a whole different idea. You have to build the person from the ground up, there is no framework to start with like with non-original characters. Ever original chracter is built of pieces that you might take from some where else, but you did have to do the work to put it together.
