I assume ace is Asexual. If so, then yeah. I am so sick of this desperate need by lonely nerds to justify their own lack of getting laid by appropriating the label and then trying to apply it to every character on television in order to get so validation. Worse than the fake auties and the sperg labelling. Both groups need to learn that unless a character is explicitly mentioned as being autie or asexual then they are normal.

Whoa, you tried really hard.

Asexuality isn't an actual sexuality, it's just another special snowflake label, so don't worry.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you tried at all.

...okay, it's one thing to cry "special snowflake" on people who want a personalized orientation label for "I'm only attracted to brown-eyed people with a light bondage kink and no more than two piercings when Jupiter aligns with Mars," but how is it hard to understand "not attracted to anyone" as a thing? And what else would you expect people to call it?

Monk? Nun? Can't get laid and just wants to pretend it is a voluntary choice?

Take your pick from those three.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. That's celibacy. Try again, troll.

Yes, choosing to be a monk or a nun is the same as being inherently uninterested in sex. The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa is totally chase.

What are you, a 16-year-old boy? Even for people who aren't asexual, there are more paths in life than just "trying to get laid and succeeding" and "trying to get laid and failing."

Can't get laid and just wants to pretend it is a voluntary choice?

Actually, I usually have the opposite problem, in that I get hit on often enough by people who have trouble taking 'no' for an answer. The world would be a much nicer place if people found me as thoroughly uninteresting as I find them.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. I have the misfortune of being attractive to people and most just don't get that "I'm asexual" doesn't mean "you need to try harder".

AYRT

I don't usually mention the asexual part, just keep explaining that I'm not interested in whatever particular person happens to be asking at the time. Most of the time I don't want to get into a debate, which I think trying to explain asexuality would cause, I just want them to go away. So I say 'no' until they do, or I have to make a hasty escape.

Ur just jelly you can't be labeled as special snowflakey as the rest of us.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hi. I'm asexual. I also don't really have an inability to get laid, as it's never been an issue. I've had long-term SOs, sex with these relationships, normal hormones, no sex-related trauma, etc. I just don't choose to have sex, because it doesn't interest me. I also don't really enjoy eating chocolate or drinking beer, and I get a similar reaction when I say that, too.

There are very few characters I read as asexual, though: Daryl Dixon (because Kirkman says he is) and Varys.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds just... normal. What, you think everyone else is perpetually horny?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

No, but most people are at least interested SOME of the time, which I'm guessing the person you replied to isn't.

And neither am I. Ever. In the past when I've done it (and anytime I'd do it in the future) was/would be ONLY because it was my SO wanted to, not because I did.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Daryl Dixon (because Kirkman says he is)

I'm way behind on this show so maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they eventually came out and said he was straight?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
they've said both because kirkman doesn't seem to realize that they're two different things in the context he meant them in...

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
ayrt

What are different things, and what's the context? Is it that he's maybe asexual but heteroromantic? (I'm thinking that's what you mean but I've been awake way too long and my brain feels fuzzy!)

(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
ding ding! It's the truth.
