I really really wish people would stop talking shit about Jezebel

It's widely loathed for a reason, nonny.

Can I ask why? I think there are some decent things about it, but for the most part it's the snake eating its own tail of pseudo-feminist hypocrisy.

But for all that the rage it induces in some people is reason enough to read it occasionally lol.

Yeah, it's ridiculous how people act like it's some place of raging man-hating feminazis. It's a pretty harmless website, which has had its flaws, as a lot of Gawker sites do. Not my favorite place, but it's hardly some kind of den of evil.
(Just wait, I'll probably get a comment like, NINE YEARS AGO THEY HAD ONE ARTICLE CONDONING BEATING ON GUYS. Yeah, that was fucked up, but that was one article almost a decade ago.)

You're right I'm sorry, it takes power and privilege to be racist. If someone says something virulently hateful about all white people or Jews, it's because they're having a bad day. We need a word for the racism that lacks power or privilege.

Conflating "all white people" with "Jews" is disingenuous at best. I'm sure you know perfectly well that Jewish people have been persecuted and subject to exile and slaughter for a couple of thousand years, whereas white people, as a group, have not.

AYRT is committed to the idea that, because anti-Semitism is a thing, Jewish people do not have any kind of privilege in any place or at any time. In fact, it is impossible for them to do so.

It's not the fact that you said that not all Jews are white. It's that you implied that any Jews are white.

Yeah, I love those idiots who are all, "I'm not racist because racism=power+privilege" (or whatever they use).

It's like wow, cool. You are not racist, you are just a bigoted asshole. That is sooooo much better.

It's also funny cause they say you can't use the dictionary definition of racism since dictionaries are compiled by white people, but the privilege + power definition of racism was invented by a white person.

...It's not just antifeminists that hate it though? Like it's pretty widely trashed on Tumblr and even on sites like Feministe. Jezebel has had enough articles that were offensive to minorities to get most of the deeper feminists and SJ activists pissed. Then there was their involvement with Hugo Schwyzer and other incidences like that.

Leftists hate Jezebel, MRAs and anti-feminists hate Jezebel, the only people that like it are typically pretty clueless mainstream feminists.

I never said only antifeminists hate Jezebel. I was mostly referring to the way people react to Jezebel here on fandomsecrets. I guess I didn't get that point across.

I do find it amusing that The Mary Sue--a site whose entire ethos is "Girls rule, boys drool"--emphasizes that it's not that crazy by saying it's not Jezebel.

It's hard to though, when Jezebel is ...Jezebel.

Not that some of the articles aren't good/lol-worthy, but still.
