I have an Abe Lincoln beard. (And a Hulk Hogan mustache!) This is probably the only thing about me that can be called "manly."

Haven't seen them in a week or more.

I tend to imagine people like their icons as well... And I thought feotakahari was a woman. ^^; oops.

You are totally Ozma, of course! ^_^ A good choice.

(We rewatched Return to Oz a few days ago with our roommate, who'd never heard of it. It was fun.)

I just watched it the other night with a friend who hadn't seen it, they enjoyed it.

And yeah I switched to my Ozma-icon, which is currently not my default, beause I like the association. *which you could probably tell with my screen name starting with Oz*

Oz was totes our first fandom. ^_^ It is so cool! Our roommate thought Return to Oz was just really weird and trippy; it was fun to share it with her.

I came into the Oz fandom later. I had some exposure to it as a child (the anime, return to Oz, Dreamer of Oz, and of course 1939), but I never read the books till I was an adult.

Still one of my top 10 fandoms, and farthest away I've ever traveled for a con.

Oh god I feel like I'm replying to all your comments but I ADORE THAT MOVIE. I swear to gods, every single dark as hell "kid's" movie of the 70s/80s was so much my thing. (Watership Down, Return to Oz, The Last Unicorn, I could continue.) This is probably not surprising that my comfort reading is Anne Bishop's Black Jewels books (amazing books; should come with just about every trigger warning possible) and the Game of Thrones books. Mercedes Lackey is like... my only comfort reading that isn't automatically dark, and even then, my favorites are her darker ones (Oathbound, Oathbreakers, the Diana Tregarde books).

Weirdly, I didn't care much for the original Oz but I adored the books, and re-watched Return like nuts. I'm surprised my parents weren't more concerned about me.

Gigi: It is a great movie. I love it.

Rogan: Oddly, I never cared for The Last Unicorn. I know a lot of people like it, but I always felt like I was missing something.

Miranda: I remember the Diana Tregarde books! I think I only managed to get my hands on the first one, but I recall liking it! The Fire Rose is my favorite Lackey book by far.

I don't identify as male, but I am huge and hairy, so I figure I might as well be the hairiest I can be rather than trying to keep trimmed. Saves time in the mornings when I'm rushing to 8 AM classes.

Ah I'm trans, and sometimes I don't shave cause I work early mornings but I always feel gross when I do. I need electrolysis, (or more lasers which ever).

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that the answer is MORE LASERS, made me grin

I'm...not sure how you can pull that off. Wouldn't the beard kill the effect of the horseshoe, just turning it into a standard beard/stache combo?
feotakahari: (Default)

[personal profile] feotakahari 2015-04-20 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm worried I've been using the terms wrong. I looked at beards and mustaches on Wikipedia, and those were the closest pictures I could find, but I'm not really an expert on male grooming.

(Fun fact: if you let an Abe Lincoln beard grow too long, it turns into a bin Laden beard. Trim it ASAP!)

Well, to me, the defining point of the Horseshoe (the stache Hulk wears) is coming down to the chin without being met by a beard. Once a beard (even a Chin Curtain, like Lincoln's) gets in on the act, the mustache becomes part of the beard.

Apparently, the appropriate term now is AMAB. (Which bears some risk of confusion with "all mods are bastards," but I can definitely see why "bio-male" is falling out of use.)
