ehhh British people also smoke like chimneys so I might need a source about being some of the best teeth in the world.

*When you're speaking solely about the number of fillings required for children, which tracks pretty closely to overall health of teeth in adult populations but obviously isn't a direct one to one. I know there are other sources for a more general argument out there but I'm not exactly going to go digging for them.

Though I don't think we are especially a nation of smokers? Would have to dig up the stats on that but certainly for europe and asia I've always been of the impression we spoke less then average.

Figures vary by source (WHO, CDC etc.) but the prevalence of smoking in the UK is about 19-20%, and the prevalence in the US is about 18-19%. The smoking ban in the UK has also reduced the number of new smokers in the past few years, so as those filter through (pardon the pun) then the percentage will reduce. The UK also has one of the lowest prevalences of female smokers in the EU.

European countries have much higher rates. Greece, Poland, Spain, Germany and France all have higher rates than the UK.

And then you have countries like Russia and Japan where smoking is even more prevalent.
