Don;t complain in tags!!

(Anonymous) 2015-04-26 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't stand (moslty fanartists) who go "Don't talk about what you don't like about this art in the tags." Or "Don't tag this picture of Steve/Tony is with [INSERT WHITE BRUNETTE/BLONDE PAIRING]" because "Artists read ALL the tags anyone tags something with and it is mean/disrespectful".

Shut up. Those are people talking in their tags. Be glad they didn't reblog it and it the discussion to the main post.

I mean, what's the difference between putting it in the tags and putting it in the main post? Any artist who cares about what kind of discussion you add to their post is going to see it either way.

If you really want what you're saying about a post to be private or treated as private, put it on a new post under a readmore, or post it to a private blog or something.

I partially agree with you but on the other hand, it really bothers me when people, for example, take a set of character gifs you've made and tag them with "fandom racism" "anti-black racism" or "whitewashing."

I've seen this happen to people that make pastel gifsets of black characters.

I also saw it happen to one person who made a 60s version of the Avengers. They included one gif of Thor walking away from Loki but didn't include Fury. And so they were accused of excluding Nick Fury while promoting Loki as an Avenger.

I don't agree with that in the slightest.

Eh, it's kind of disrespectful either way though. Tag for organization on an art piece, keep your opinions to yourself.

If you seriously want to critique an artist, doing it in the tags is not a great way. First find out if they are open to critiques, then talk to them DIRECTLY and not through the tags (this is one way deviantart is better then tumblr, because you can ask for critiques and there are comment threads.)

And if you want to talk about something related to the art (like feelings on a ship) put it in another post and not the main art post.
