what's something about you that you wish people would notice, but they never do?

has to be something true.

I posted a secret about this a little while ago (and wow did it turn into a mess and possibly trigger some people, which I regret). But...

--general trigger warning here--

my weight loss. It just would have been nice to have someone in real life notice. A lot of people chimed in, and I think some were trying to make me feel better by pointing out that a lot of people aren't comfortable mentioning weight, but it didn't really help too much because that very same day I listened to one girl compliment another girl on her appearance (telling her she looked so skinny) while walking home and it made me a tad sad that no one had noticed.

Anyway, I wanted to thank the people who were supportive (although I do regret making the secret, especially without a trigger warning, in hindsight).

Maybe people do feel awkward about mentioning it? I know you said that didn't help, but honestly... for some people weight can be a sensitive subject and I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't sure if it's a 'safe' topic for you.

Then again I don't know how much weight you've lost (if it's say...ten pounds, that's great! but not nearly as noticeable as say...sixty) or how considerate the people around you are...

Hearing, "You look great!" is obviously nice, but I've had my weight loss mentioned in a few ways that hurt my feelings, so... if people start commenting on it, I hope they do so carefully!

(And congrats! Losing weight can be hard.)

Yeah, that's fair.

It was just disheartening to hear two girls talking about another and how great and skinny she looked that very same day.

I went from 142 to 114. So it was a HUGE amount like 60 pounds but I guess I was a bit saddened that no one ever said anything.

Ooo, 28 pounds is good! That takes a considerable amount of time and effort. (Especially considering the smaller you are, the harder it is to lose. Ugh, the last ten pounds are brutal.)

Anyway, do these people see you every day? I ask because if they do, it might be more difficult for them to notice the change. I know (at first) when I was losing weight, looking at myself in the mirror every day, it didn't feel like much was happening even though I was noticing the number change on the scale and in how different my clothes fit. If they were around the whole time they might not notice so much?

But also: are you wearing clothes that fit? (I.E. aren't a size or two too big for you?) That's important; even if the clothes are big, sometimes they can make you look larger than you actually are.

Whenever I get my hair cut. The last time I cut my hair, I cut it about 10-15 cm shorter (from about boob length to shoulder length) and still no one said anything until I mentioned something about it.

I wanted some compliments dammit :C

I did something similar and I was surprised at how few people noticed my haircut.

Honestly, I can't say for sure because I think much of what we as humans assume isn't being noticed actually is. :|a

That I actually do a LOT of work just to keep things at an even keel; keeping up maintenance etc. on the house & garden take up about 80% of my "free time" so it's really annoying that the reaction of my family when they visit is almost universally "why don't you do these improvements? you have time, you need a project..."
