I do wish most people would tag basic things like fandom or subject (frankly so I can look through their backlog of posts easier), but if they don't want to for whatever reason that's their decision. The world will go on, and you don't have to follow them if it bothers you that much.
Tagging is nice, but I don't think it's realistic to expect everyone to do it.

I agree on tags in general, more is better because it makes individual blogs and the site more organized, but ultimately as long as you're covering your basic common triggers, then it's any given person's decision how to run their blog.

I follow a couple people who tag nothing. Not a big fan of that because it makes it impossible to search their posts, but I still like their posts enough to go along with it. That isn't going to be the case for some people, and that's okay.
