Fuck these comments show how many lightyears we are away from people getting even a basic understanding of ableism.

I'm depressed now (even more than usual).

Nah, it's just fandomsecrets.

Yeah, all those OCD people coming out the woodwork to say that their obsessions aren't positive at all are real cunts, aren't they? Why don't they understand? Why won't they just let themselves be used for the sake of someone else's argument? Surely, it's more ableist for them, the actual people with the disability, to correct the OP than for OP to use their disability to further his or her agenda.

This is why I hate "ableism" as a concept, because it makes people think they have the right to talk over me about my own disability or that I need to be treated like I'm some sort of fragile butterfly.

No, fuck that. I can defend myself, thank you, and all I want from anyone is to be treated the same way you would treat anyone else. My disability is not a positive thing. It is not something that makes me unique or special or anything else, nor is it something to be celebrated. It's just something that exists as a part of me, that's all.

Yep, you got it, all these people talking about their own experiences with OCD/autism and obsessions are full of shit and you're 100% right. Your experiences are the only ones that matter.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-29 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
I agree but most likely for different reasons.

These comments show that anti-ableism people themselves don't understand ableism either. OCD is just as much of a real disability as autism is.
