~5 pound fluctuation in a week is nothing and probably water weight.

It took me WEEKS to lose those few pounds, though. And to have it all come back within a couple of days...Jesus Christ it sucks.

If you want advice, don't think about weight, think about form and shape. Muscle takes up less volume than fat but weighs more, and it's possible you gained muscle and lost fat and got smaller, too.

Nope. It's all on my abdomen, unfortunately. I can tell because my pants feel tighter and I look preggers.

Thanks for trying to put a positive spin on it. (I know it's not muscle gain because my exercise level has been steady for over half a year -- I've just been reducing calories).

That really sounds like water weight, tbh. That's where it usually packs on.

Are you drinking enough water? Eating less salt?

I'm pretty sure I'm drinking enough.

I have several large glasses every day and I eat so many fresh fruits and veggies on top of that. I don't add any additional salt to my food either (except to the water when I boil eggs).

But I can't understand why the weight gain is happening NOW -- I've been eating like this for quite a while.

DA

Hormones? Stress? Water weight isn't like gaining a pound of fat. It's not usually caused by anything you did. Hormones can strike at any time, without rhyme or reason.

Any major stressors recently? Stress can raise your cortisol levels, which can make you gain.

Nope.

I actually finished classes well over a week ago (and even then I had basically nothing due) so I can't imagine it's that.

Taking weeks to lose a few pounds is pretty normal for diets that aren't extreme. Quite frankly, it's also better for your health and long term prospects because this is a lifestyle change, not a miracle makeover. If you want to drop the weight AND keep it off, be prepared for it to happen slowly.

I know but it really fucking blows to take weeks and weeks to lose weight and then BOOM in a few days I've put it all back on and my stomach's straining against my pants...
