Lovecraft
What are some of your favorite stories? Mine are Reanimator, Thing on the Doorstep, and Dreams in the Witch House (the last my current fave because I am a stressed college student).
Also, in terms of fanworks, I have an ongoing project adapting Reanimator into a kid of modern day audio play with some friends of mine. We've also genderbent Herbert West and the narrator, which has been a very interesting avenue to pursue!

(Anonymous) 2015-05-01 04:25 am (UTC)(link)My second favorite would have to be The Colour Out of Space. I grew up where there had been nuclear testing, though, so I grew up with that kind of creeping fear of the fallout and radiation? It might not have the same impact for someone who never experienced that.
Of his shorter stories I love The Outsider the best. TBH I love pretty much all of his works, though, and I've read all of them multiple times (some of them hundreds of times) throughout my life.
