Image: Ultra-blurred Tumblr notes

Text: I think people who reblog/like posts from creators’ official accounts that have fewer notes (= more likely for individual note to be noticed) on their blogs that have content inappropriate for creators to see are just 1 step away from being as bad as those who directly send inappropriate things to creators.
Can some creators know to brace themselves before clicking on fans’ blog links? Maybe. Certainly it would be more active of them than seeing what gets sent straight to them. Do they even still look at fans' blogs personally? I don’t know. But I want fans to have some shame, regardless. Stuff doesn’t have to be hands-down wrong for it to be worth hiding.

I don't understand this AT ALL. When people reblog/like my fanfic or meta posts on tumblr I don't give a shit what they have on their blog. I only look at the blogs of people who I might have have a conversation with before, or someone who has been reblogging lots of things from me to see if they are worth following.

Like, do you mean underage creators getting their stuff reblogged by nsfw blogs? Because stumbling upon nsfw stuff kind of just goes with being on the Internet. It's going to happen unless you really watch yourself. I can't get to up in arms about it, tbh.

But I'm not sure I'm understanding your secret so, maybe my comment is completely off base.

I don't think it's up to you decide what's appropriate. It's their blog, their space. If you're clicking random links online, you know you're taking risks of seeing something strange or disturbing.

Um, sorry. If I decide to draw porn and post it on my blog and I follow, say Mark Ruffalo? I ain't hiding that shit outright. I DO post half of it under a cut, for the ~kiddies~, but hell no. I will not censor myself for your, or anyone else's, sensitive sensibilities.

It wouldn't be my fault if Mark Ruffalo decided to poke around saw some Draenei/Orc smut.

So I've been giggling over the last part of your comment for a bit now, so kudos!

Also I agree with your entire comment.

XD Glad I could make you laugh.

(it's a favorite dynamic of mine, so....)

Do you think creators are all these sweet innocent grade-school children untouched and unvarnished by the realities of the internet? Seriously, this is like super patronizing to creators, as if they "don't know any better" and can't take care of themselves.

They don't need your protection, OP, they're adults. And anybody who creates anything for a living gets used to weird shit reeeeeeal quick.

Honestly I think creators/writers have to at least have some knowledge of what they're getting themselves into when they enter fandom spaces(like tumblr), otherwise they'd just stay clear.

Regardless I'm pretty sure they can handle themselves when it comes to random internet porn.

You know, there is someone who follows me on tumblr who I am pretty sure ONLY follows me because he sees me as his fetish come to life. (He's into erotic mind control and hypnosis. That's ALL he posts, plus stupid bullshit about how only class privilege exists.) He doesn't do anything except like or reblog a very occasional post of mine... usually something regarding memory and altered mental states.

Am I kinda skeeved out by this guy? Yes. But honestly, he's just existing at me. He's not doing anything untoward. I find his tumblr skeezy as hell, but I'M the one who got curious and looked. I certainly wouldn't consider him a terrible person for liking or reblogging a couple of my posts and expect him to stop just because I find his way of interacting with his kink incredibly creepy.

I don't think any big time creators are spending the time to scroll through people's blogs. Any comments are their posts tend to go to a direct link on the person's blog.

And secondly if that person is interacting with fans through tumblr, they're already aware of the horrors.

I highly doubt that creators stalk the blogs of people who like or reblog their posts, but even if they did, that would be their CHOICE, and they should know what they might find on the internet. It's not at all the same as thrusting porn at someone when they can't avoid it.

That's the risk you take on the internet. That isn't just for content creators but anyone can click anywhere on the internet and find something inappropriate. Everyone has to learn to deal with it themselves or learn to click the back button.

People are allowed to post whatever the want on their blog it's THEIR blog. Tumblr is a site where you share stuff through reblogging, if the thought that someone who likes inappropriate stuff sees your content bothers you then don't use tumblr.
If you are easily offended then don't click onto other peoples blogs. How would you feel if some stranger walked into your house and started telling you to get rid of stuff?

People reblogging stuff from you just means they liked the post it's not like they want your attention nor is it an obligation to check out their blog.
