There’s a BNF who does some pretty good work for the fandom I’m in wrt posting pics and info, and participating in discussions.

But I find the way they disagree with or dismiss other fans rude sometimes. Even when I don’t side with either opinion.

I also suspect it could be a cultural thing, since they’re from a country not well-represented in fandom, or the English-speaking side of the internet. Not that it’s an issue of English, or that it’s an excuse to be rude, but it complicates my opinion on them.

There's someone like this in my fandom too, though I don't think the cultural thing is an issue with them.

I just find it odd that they've deliberately built themselves a position of influence within the fandom by being the main Go-To source for information, but when people do go to them with questions, they're incredibly dismissive and patronizing (in the "GFGI" way). It's like they want the attention and praise for being that super important and amazing person who's always first with information, but God forbid someone actually ask them something about it or want to engage in discussion or they'll basically turn around and tell you you're stupid and lazy.

Sounds like a giant bitch to me.
