I have a lot of fanfic pet peeves but two I was just recently reminded of:

When they are kissing and almost suffocate because they have to ~come up for air~. Normal people have noses and are able to use them for breathing.

And biting. Look, I know you think it's kinda hot for some reason that character A bites character B and draws blood immediately. Just... unless your characters are vampires or have pointy teeth, it's not actually that easy to just draw blood. Especially on the neck where the skin is pretty thick. If someone bites you so hard that you have an actual bloody tooth mark on your neck/shoulder/wherever, it will hurt like hell because to actually damage the skin with normal blunt human teeth is difficult.

I mean sure, in some situations this breathlessness might happen but this "help I'm suffocating while kissing" in fanfic is just ...huh?

Idk man I think I've had to come up for air while kissing before. But I have a lot of allergies so who knows.

I mean, I get it if it's a sort of "heat of the moment so turned on we're all breathless" situation but fanfic tends to do this all the time. It's kinda silly. (It's a bit like the "schwing" sound swords make in movies- there are sword/scabbard combinations that make that sound but it's still silly that they do this for all swords all the tome.)

I admit, biting is soooo not my kink. In a way, it was very comforting when I figured out THAT was why a lot of vampire shit didn't do it for me.

It doesn't help that I'm that dick who tried to imagine the poor little vamps trying to get their damn incisors into someone's neck. Seriously, try to imagine biting someone like that and leaving neat puncture marks, rather than a big bruisy gaping mess.

I too hate those things. But I think they're just a sign of inexperience at the end of the day.
