It's really a shame people think loners are misanthropes when a lot of the time they are just shy and would feel rude joining in with others or asking to hang out. I remember that's how I was in middle school. I was the new girl and I wasn't even given a chance because I was shy and quiet so everyone just assumed I liked being alone so they left me alone.

Since I spent my middle school alone it kinda made me prefer being alone even after I had made friends.

I can relate. I was alone for a while due to a long period of frequent family moves when I was in junior high. It took me a while to get out of the habit of being a loner even though I wanted to make friends.
