Re: Fanfic Pet Peeves
I think music is VERY hard to incorporate into fiction in general. The only times I've seen it done well is Spider Robinson (who's a musician himself), Stuck Rubber Baby, and Mail Order Bride, and that's because they found ways to show the emotions of the songs involved, rather than just, "HEY LOOK AT MY TASTE."

I mean, I get that people get caught up in music and they have strong feelings about it that they want to share because it speaks to their soul or something, but I just find it funny. Bad person award!
I don't have a problem with people recommending playlists or writing songfic and labelling it as such (which I don't read), but when it pops up without warning, I back button.
Yeah, I feel like I'm getting too old and boring for all these new cultural references.
