(Anonymous) 2015-05-07 04:14 am (UTC)(link)Text: I'm not one of THEM, but as a person with right-leaning politics, I agree that conservatives have been made to feel very unwelcome in fandom. Just look at how people treat you if you're not in favor of gay rights or gay marriage, for example.
I'm NOT an evil bigot.
My brother is gay and I will always love him because you love the sinner, hate the sin. He knows I don't approve of his lifestyle, but we're still family and that's what counts. I think the SPs are doing an important public service by reminding fandom that it's not all about social justice and some of us just want good storytelling without preachy messages about feminism and diversity. There are LOTS of people like me (even here on FS!) but we're marginalized by the majority of fandom as if they don't even want us here. So much for tolerance, I guess…
