Okay, firstly: you can be more right leaning and not be a dick to gay people. Sadly, this sounds like it's not the case. Being anti gay marriage, and actively voting with that in mind, means you actively do not want gay couples to have the right to the same benefits and protection that you have under the law.

Fandom has often been a place for outsiders, including sexual minorities. And even though I'm not one, i'd personally feel terrible hypocrite if I'd fap to gay porn with one hand, then vote for anti-gay politics with the other. That's just me, but I prefer my life without cognitive dissonance.

Knowing fandom and seeing how you phrased this - yeah, I can sort of see why you're getting flack for it.

Nope. If you call being gay (or bi) a "lifestyle" you are probably homophobic. Fuck you. My sexuality is not a choice. It is part of who I am.

I'm sure you're a great person in other areas. My parents are pretty homophobic too and I still love them and think they are mostly decent, nice people (and fairly liberal on most things). But you are homophobic and wrong.

I actually think it is possible to be conservative and be a decent human being. But I also think that conservative politics are not only wrong but inherently classist, racist, sexist, and homophobic.

And I'm very okay with homophobia not being tolerated in fandom. That's a good thing. You as a person are perfectly welcome. And you can say whatever you want. But people are allowed to respond to what you say. And when what you say is homophobic, people are going to get offended.

I'm gay and I have lots of friends who don't really approve of being gay but who still like me. I'm used to hearing this. I understand this. I totally respect your right to have a different opinion, even if it's different from mine.

But here's the truth: I am SICK and TIRED of being the one who people say should keep QUIET and ACT NORMAL.
