Agreed it was not a feminist movie. I don't think it was the robot arm that had people thinking it was.

There was a slight egalitarian bent to the fact that the female lead was a dull uninteresting cardboard cut out with no personality other than the stoic hero, just like every single male action hero, but where as usual attempts to make boring generic tough guy hero into a woman, it is always a stunningly beautiful woman without flaws. In this case she had boyish hair, modest clothing, and a missing arm. all superficial flaws, but that's all the male heroes ever have as well. It was good they didn't over sex her. Of course all that good will goes right out the door when you have her surrounded by bikini models actually spraying water at each other playfully.

But yeah, equal opportunities blandness is not feminism. and the fact that the story was about what a horrible place it is for women who are constantly raped, the captured Mad Max has ZERO rape. Or even threats of rape. Nic Holts character in particular shouldn't have even been able to walk by this point in the world.

TL;DR, It was better, but still not good enough.

Their argument is more that there's too much rape of women, and any arguments that justify it would apply equally to men, which makes it hard to take those arguments seriously.

But there isn't even any, it is just implied. And considering how fucked up that world is (a lot of people are forced to do things), it is ENTIRELY plausible that would happen. What other reason would they keep a bunch of women locked up?

You have it backwards. MRAs are the ones who, reliably, want to make things WORSE for the gender they perceive as having an advantage. Too few men's shelters? CLOSE DOWN WOMEN'S SHELTERS. Thus, the argument AYRT was arguing AGAINST was closer to an MRA position, just genderswapped.

No, Max wasn't raped. He was just kidnapped, sheared, tattooed and branded like cattle. Then he was being used as a freakin' blood bag. Slowly being bled to death. Having his very own blood being stolen from him. And then being used as a hood ornament, while still being a blood bag. Kidnapped, tortured, being bled to death and being tortured some more. No big whoop, right?

Never mind that Nux and his "brothers" were being brainwashed by the cult of Joe. Convinced to commit kamikaze in the name of their God/Leader. Also, never mind that Joe allowed them to be malnourished to keep them obedient. (Those were goiters Nux and his brothers had. They shouldn't have had them because Joe had plenty of green food and probably iodine to keep them healthy.) But I guess that's nothing too.

The world of mad max is literally a dystopia of people gone mad. It is not a fair world in either benefits or torture. The theme was human trafficking - not confined to just rape. The status quo in the movie is not fair and the point people are liking is that it was the women who stood up, made a plan, said no and overturned the people subjecting everyone. So presumably the human trafficking in that city will now stop.


And you're missing that the women raped were only done so for the end result of children. Obviously max ain't gonna make any but he's useful in other ways as a universal blood donor. Different people are prioritised for different uses b
