Since Han is getting killed and Chewie grieving is a big plot point in the upcoming movie, I guess the undervaluing the wookie is gonna be over real quick and real soon.

That isn't a rumor anymore. I've lost the link to the shooting footage, but it shows Harrison Ford doing some greenscreen work confronting the bad guy then scenes of Chewie grieving. It is part of the handover, Han sacrifices himself to buy the new characters time to get away. He also does a big farewell scene with Carrie Fisher too. I'm not unhappy with this, Harrison Ford is getting pretty old and frail, and him giving Han a big heroic death is a fitting end to that lovable scruffy nerfherder of a rogue.

Yeah, but Ford has been vocal before about thinking Han Solo ought to have been killed off and it is confirmed he only came back to this role because it gave him a chance to "do something big". Read it any way you want, but between Ford's own words and the leaks, it seems a pretty solid lock.

I just find it funny that you consider that a "pretty solid lock." To me, that means at least all but confirmed. To me this is a very probably theory, I even do think it is going to happen, but I still wouldn't call it confirmed or even solid.

This reminds me of the people who say that Jon Snow being Lianna Stark and Raegar Targaryen's child is canon. No. It is a theory. A probable theory, but still a theory until it is confirmed.

I guess people just have different ideas of what confirmed means.
