Text: I've never been able to enjoy this show, even though it's pretty well made.

The reason is because the pilot tapped into some of my worst nightmares.

The idea of being trapped somewhere you cannot escape, unable to turn to anyone for help, freaked me out so badly that I could never get into the story.

It does get better later, but I think the show is permanently tainted for me.

(Main) I'm not concerned with the characters, the history, or the story. Nowadays all I really want is a chance to hold nonsensical theoretical discussions. S!B: No one cares about my crackpot questions.

(Green) Why would anyone say everyone bad was in Slytherin when Sirius Black was even more infamous than Bellatrix?

(Blue) Core subjects only prepare students to be either an Auror or Healer. Everything else requires specific electives or math and English skills.

(Red) There is one wizarding sport and it's played by only twenty eight people nationwide at the high school level. What does everyone else do for fun and physical activity?

(Yellow) How could pureblood lines still exist with such a small breeding pool? They should have been bred to extinction centuries ago.

edit: Hour into the movie and it is surprisingly funny. Really enjoying it.

edit edit: Fucking loved this movie. And I think you are totally on the mark with your interpretation. There are definitely others, but that one totally fits.

I hate how he's the series darling--not only does he constantly get shoved in your face as one of the best characters, people act like he's a good person, too. I find the whole "I'm a god" schtick and the seeming omnipotence that comes with it--his scenes have no tension because you know they'll always turn out how he wants!

But what bothers me the most is people acting like the paid killer who's willing to risk killing a woman to get at her fiance is a good person. Especially when they act like the scared kid who attempted murder deserved the torture of being grated on train tracks, but think that this guy is perfect
