I don't think they plan to kill off Steve. Not unless Jeb Bush wins the White House or something.

What?

Every time there's a Republican in the White House IRL, the comic book Cap either quits or dies. It's pretty transparent.

Well, Steve is going to die. It is just a matter of when. I am calling Captain America 3 or 4. I assume Tony will die in Avengers 3. But maybe Cap will die in Civil War, only to be brought back by an infinity stone for Avengers 3.

AW HELL NAW.

He's signed on for both Avengers 3-4, so if he dies, it won't be for long.

That being said Cap 4 is not on the slate of upcoming films. I imagine that they might cap it at three like they seem to be doing for Iron Man.

Of course he'll be right, he's Captain fucking America

the A on his head stands for "accurate"

you misfired

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it stood for France.

And this is the wrong thread.

Re: you misfired

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I realized that, but then I was like "eh"

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked that he shifted it a hair in the movie, enough to make Thor sweat, but I agree that he needs to move it at least once. If anyone's worthy, it's Steve! MAybe Mjolnir needs him to be more zen or something idk, like 'worthiness' is actually more self-actualization in the hammer's view idk the point is Steve is worthy as shit.

Wonder Woman can canonically move the hammer, Steve is as worthy as Wondy. Just nto as...godly.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfft. I doubt any of those crap 90s crossovers are considered canon by either company.

Both of these would be awesome and I hope to see them. :D Until then, we have fanfic!

My Idea

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
If Steve dies, it's as Skinny!Steve wielding Thor's hammer to save everyone.

Though I agree that he had BETTER have a reunion with Bucky.

If Steve dies, it's as Skinny!Steve wielding Thor's hammer to save everyone.

This would be a truly marvelous twist.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
At this point I'll be happy if Bucky gets more than 5 minutes of screentime at all.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Why the hell does everyone think Steve's going to die? I'm not getting that vibe from the series at all.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Because Chris Evans has only one, maybe two depending on how his contract is worded, movies left in his deal and he's been talking about other projects away from Marvel. Now that could be just to get a better negotiating position, but it could also be he is serious about moving on and it would be hard for Marvel to carry on and not have Captain America or Steve in them if his character was still alive in any way.

He's signed on for both Infinity War movies, so that's three right there.

I remember him mentioning once about a year and a half ago that he said he'd like to try directing, but no other implications that he wants to move on from Marvel (and that in itself isn't really one).

Steve died in the Civil War comic.

I wouldn't mind Steve lifting Mjolnir but I wouldn't be aghast if he doesn't, him reuniting with Bucky is what I really want but well, I'm not holding out hope for that.
elaminator: (Captain America: Steve/Bucky)

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-06-04 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I think there is a very real possibility that Steve won't get to use Mjolnir. Marvel teased it so it would be a perfect moment, but it's just as likely they'll forget it ever happened.

As for Bucky, I agree vehemently, but at the same time I feel like they can't get away with not letting Steve and Bucky reunite. After everything those two have went through it would be downright unfair (and stupid) to not include a really sappy reunion. (And can you imagine how terrible it would be if Steve died before seeing Bucky again, and Bucky had been longing to see him but hiding out of fear or shame? He would never forgive himself. Bucky doesn't need that amount of angst in his life. We don't need that amount of angst.)

But...since Civil War is coming, I don't know when Marvel will even find the time for it. (I still think there should be another Cap film between AOU and Civil War focusing on Bucky and Steve, but what do I know.)

I kind of want there to be a lot of interaction that isn't quite there with Steve and Bucky because Bucky is still adjusting to everything and everyone, and then for there to be this one moment when one of them makes a joke and they're laughing and suddenly it's like nothing ever changed--and then the action escalates again and this ends up being their one real moment before Steve dies. And oh yes, Steve Rogers must die.

What I don't get....?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
So...if we're going to kill off Steve Rogers in the upcoming film, then what would be the point of giving him a love interest in the form of Emily Vancamp who's apparently signed on for 3 months of filming? Along with introducing so many new characters?

Re: What I don't get....?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's confusing.

Why are people so certain Steve is going to die? Is it just contract negotiations stuff?
