People have been doing the latter ever since TWS became a successful movie and Steve the new MCU golden child.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, though, there's a lot more basis to do it for Steve than there ever was with Tony. But I can see how it would annoying for people who don't particularly care for Steve and like Tony.

ayrt, who resides in the latter camp of favorites

Actually, my favorite is Bruce, but fandom AND canon shit on him all the time, so maybe I should be used to this.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have strong feelings on Bruce but I'd say he's more...well...neglected than really shat on. I haven't seen anyone that really hates/dislikes/bashes him. He just seems to get kind of forgotten.

I'll admit I haven't seen any of the Hulk movies, for example, though part of that has to do with the fact that they don't star Ruffalo and so it doesn't appeal to me as much.

I'm a fan of Mark Ruffalo and Pak's Run on Hulk comics. I watched the two Hulk movies, but neither of them did anything for me, either.

But where I'm at in fandom, I see a lot of people rerouting Natasha's story to be some kind of "abuse victim apologies to her abuser" crap because of how her fear of Hulk was turned into a love story.

Not that I agree, but some Natasha fans have been pretty vicious to Bruce since AoU happened.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I mean, I love Clintasha but I don't have anything against Bruce. I don't see why we have to demonize him just because Joss is a crappy writer (no offense if you like the pairing, it just didn't work for me although I do think it could very easily in more capable hands).

It's funny because as much as I don't like Tony much, I find that his interactions with Bruce make him more likable. It'd be way more interesting (IMO) to have a Hulk movie that includes Tony rather than try to do Civil War.

But Bruce does tend to get left by the wayside a lot, which is a shame.

No, BruceNat doesn't work for me at all and was forced like a circle into a square peg thanks to Joss' wish fulfillment writing.

have a Hulk movie that includes Tony rather than try to do Civil War

I have been saying this for YEARS. The Hulk movies tend to fall on their faces because they keep trying to jam Hulk into the usual Hollywood movie story, but that's not really the point of the big guy and he AND Bruce work better when they have someone to bounce off of. Tony's that guy and I would give a few years off of my life to have a movie like that.

It also really chaps my ass that Bruce (and Thor) are being left out of Avengers 2.5- I mean, Civil War. Guess they couldn't get elbow room in with such important, prominant figures like ANT-FUCKING-MAN.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
SERIOUSLY ALL OF THIS. (but I actually kinda liked brucenat tho sorry lol)

And bruce didn't even get a proper ending everyone got a happy ending and he ends up miserable. :(
At least Thor is getting his own movie later, Bruce is currently stuck in limbo until infinty wars and it's so so unfair

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised.
I saw a few people accuse bruce of "dumping all his man angst on natashat" and "abandoning natasha and not thanking her for being nice to him."
There's not a ton, but it's still there and it's really really stupid.
miss_yuka: Captain America from Marvel comics (Default)

Not even the fans. In the comics it's the characters, too, which is another level of frustrating. Cap could crucify a puppy and all his teammates would go "Well, he's Captain America, it's probably justified."
Which is the reason I'm dreading CW & this crap making it over to the MCU.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't read the comics so I can't remark there.

I think the idea of dark!Steve is actually a pretty interesting one. Or one where he fucks up. I think you could argue that Steve's righteousness could very easily cause him to do evil.

One way to do it would be to look at how his desire to do "what's right", whatever the cost, results in the delusion that whatever he does is right, no matter what it is.

Which I think would be very compelling from a character standpoint.

You mean like he accused Fury of doing in Winter Soldier?

That'd be a great thing to have him realize later. That his decision could end up being used against them or he forces people to be a certain way and just doesn't realize his "justice is fear" like what he tild Fury.

But in terms of profit, Tony's films have always been leading the pack?

Or are you saying the new MCU golden child in terms of fandom?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
In terms of fandom is what I meant.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Excuse you, some of us had been doing that for twenty years before it got trendy.
