I'd buy a nice but modest house (nothing over 2000 sqft and preferably under that), but I'd also buy the house next door or across the street for guests. Guests are great when they're not in your house. Thoughts of decorating the guest house and stocking it with food and stuff when people are coming over give me the same kind of fun I get from playing The Sims, lol.
