This sucks for me because I like both Steve and Tony and I'd hate to see either of them get dragged through the mud to prove the other is in the right. They are both well loved characters with successful solo movies so it will be difficult to pick a side unless they completely mangle one of their characters into some unsympathetic villain.

It's a Captain America movie so that kind of hints how things are going to play out, but I just hope both characters are handled with respect. To be honest I always hated those comics that pit two non-villain characters against each other, because one of them always gets to be portrayed as the crazy/wrong/evil one while the other comes out looking like a saint.

This. Tony is my fave but I like them both and I'm really nervous that one of them will end up being vilified (which, let's be honest, would probably be Tony due to the fact that this is a Captain America movie, lol.) I don't even read the comics and I was nervous when a Civil War movie was announced, just from what I've heard of that storyline in fandom.

Complex rivalry/enmity between two characters who are "good guys" is fine, forcing one into the "evil" role is not. Especially when I love the "gray morality" parts of Tony's character so much, watering it down to black and white would not be cool.
