I hate that. There is no statute of limitations on murder, and I think it should be the same for rape or sexual assault (particularly when the victim was underage at the time).

Want to know something really sick? The statute of limitations is longer on theft than it is on sexual assault/rape in most states.

Yup. And you are more likely to get a higher sentence for drug crimes than for rape.

Another super-fun factoid: People who are convicted of sexual assault/rape are more likely to be eligible for parole than people who are found in possession of "minor" drugs like weed and prescription stimulants like Adderall and Ritalin. So the harmless person dealing dime bags out of their dorm room will get expelled and sent to prison for their full sentence, while someone who committed multiple sexual assaults will, if ever even brought up on formal charges (because colleges will cover it up, as we've seen) will usually just "be encouraged" to transfer to another college, or be given a much lighter sentence. Victims of sexual assault have even been slapped with slander charges, or threatened with "consequences" for making waves, such as being told they can be suspended from classes.

There was one case that went public where a rapist was ordered by an evaluation board to write an essay apologizing for his behavior, and the victim was expected to take that as punishment enough.

This makes me want to vomit. That's sick. Why do people care more about protecting rapists than the HUMAN BEINGS they prey on?
