2. Not only are Muslims not generally joining Daesh (ISIS), a lot of traditional Muslims are being killed by Daesh.
3. Do you really think that those of us (who are not fanatical Islamists ourselves) that criticise fanaticism in Christianity are somehow OK with it in Islam?

Well, educated, logical people know that Daesh is a movement using Islam as a cover so they can fill the power vacuum and set themselves up as the New Boss, Worse Than the Old Boss, who use the faith as a way to control/manipulate young boys who have grown up in a warzone, and represent Islam as a whole in the same way the KKK represents Christianity.

But then you get people like this who get their news from Fox News and their ilk, who couldn't be logical and fair if you held them over a tank of hungry crocodiles. Daesh is a handy new villain for them, and they even give them the legitimacy Daesh wants by calling them "ISIS".

Use as a cover implies that they don't believe in Islam. They do.

The KKK is a Christian organization that has a good run of lynching POC, LGBTQA+ folks, etc. But for some reason, even though they claim to be "true Christians", fighting against anti-Christian evils, you don't see folks lumping all Christians in with them. Gee, I wonder why that is....

I don't get what you're trying to say here. I don't see anyone lumping the extremists together with the normal people. I do see someone saying that ISIS believes in Islam. Which they do. It's a fucked up interpretation, but they still say they believe in Islam, just like the KKK says they are the "true Christians."

Plenty people do. Or they use Westboro.

Also Daesh is just a term people use because they're scared to refer to ISIS as Islamic. We generally refer to the Nazis as Nazis too. That's not giving them legitimacy.

No one is scared to refer to them as Islamic. They're called "Daesh" as an insult, the same way people make jokes about Neo-Nazis/KKK supporters being inbred morons. Most people in the area regard them the same way. They're a bunch of violent fuckers who are using their religion to justify the horrible things they do. Just like the Neo-Nazis/KKK try to use Christianity. We have the benefit of rolling our eyes over these extremists now, but it wasn't that long ago they were lynching and road-hauling Black men, not to mention what so called "Christians" in the good old U.S. of A do to people in the queer community here.

Daesh is a term used to mock a bunch of jerks, many of whom aren't even from Iraq or al-Sham, who first called themselves "Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham," then shortened it to "Islamic State."

What they need to be told is, "Whatever, dudelets, you're a bunch of children of immigrants who grew up in Europe and decided to look for a war to fight. You don't seem to understand Islamic law or morality, and you have no idea how to maintain a functional state. You're a societal disaster, and no more an 'Islamic State' than a forest fire."

Also, there are lots of actual serious Islamists elsewhere in the world who are not Daesh. Some of them are also genocidal warmongers, true. But Daesh is called Daesh to knock their pretension down a peg, rather than to play into their desire to be the flagbearer of some new Caliphate.

We call them Daesh as an insult. They hate this name. They want people to see them as Islamic. We want to deny them this idea. Daesh doesn't deserve the honor of association with anything other than murder, cowardice, and being the walking pieces of shit they are.

You don't want to call them Islamic for the benefit of Muslims. Kerry said as much.

Because John Kerry represents the people of the Middle East.

The people who criticize Christianity are often hesitant to look at Islam the same way. Those who criticize Islam are labeled 'islamophobes'.

Thats how the scale of hatred being measured by religions right now.

And we just sucked it like vacuum.

There are two possible reasons I can think of for this.

1. They are Christians themselves or come from a Christian background and are more comfortable criticizing their own religion/the religion of their family and/or culture rather than that of another culture.

2. There is a difference between criticizing a religion that has privilege and one whose adherents are discriminated against. Assuming those commenting are from western cultures, there is a difference between criticizing Christianity which has privilege in western countries (even those who aren't very religious at all) and Islam which doesn't.
