Whatever you do, do Lonesome Road last. Preferable right before you beat the game, because (as someone else has pointed out, I think) there's no post-game portion to wander around in, and there are things is spoils the shit out of if you play it earlier.

I personally don't get the hate for Honest Hearts. A lot of people found it boring, but for me it had one of the most compelling NPCs in the game, and also, I was raised in a hard-right fundie household, so... yeah a lot of the narrative had more meaning for me than it probably did for a lot of other people.

My personal least favorite was Dead Money. It or Lonesome Road are the hardest difficulty-wise, by far, but while Lonesome Road's difficulty is largely tactical, Dead Money's is grindy, which I find far less fun. I also didn't really care for any of the NPCs. I ended up just going full stealth and running through a lot of it because it was so tedious.

Lastly, Old World Blues was probably my favourite. I have never laughed so hard over anything else in Fallout, ever, and that's really saying something.

I did OWB - > DM -> HH -> LR myself.

EDIT: I just realized you already played LR. lol. Well then, uh, I'd save OWB for last just so you can have something spectacular to see the game off with.

Oopsssssssssss. Yup, Lonesome Road is the only DLC I've played so far. A few things made me decide to try it (I had heard you didn't have to leave all your stuff behind for that one, I was curious about the Courier's story, and I also heard it wasn't as buggy as the other DLC, but I honestly didn't pay attention to level. I got through mostly fine except for rawr...fuck rawr.)

TBH I didn't know Honest Hearts was hated...I thought it was one of the more popular DLC's, but I guess that shows how much I know about Fallout fandom. And going by everything I've been told in this thread, Dead Money is a no-good, annoying DLC that I kind of just want to avoid but won't because I own it and I'm going to suffer through it so I can say I finished it.

Lonesome Road did have a fair amount of fighting (all Fallout DLC seem to, to me) but it never felt grindy. I like that about it. (Point Lookout was particularly blah in Fallout 3, so I'm hoping DM isn't that bad.)

Ooo, now I'm looking forward to Old World Blues! Didn't realize it was so humorous. (And you can never have too much of that.)

Thanks!

These points aren't mutually exclusive, of course. I can certainly see it as a love it or hate it DLC. I think Dead Money would have the same sort of status if it didn't have as many bugs as it does (it's pretty close to it, even with the bugs).

And OWB is f'n HILARIOUS. And massively confusing before the story really gets going, but that just makes it more fun.

I've enjoyed some of the Fallout DLC but not that much, so I'm getting hyped for OWB. I never imagined Bethesda would do a DLC with so much humor, but that's exactly what I've been wanting more of. I don't even mind confusion, I just want something fun to play and somewhat lighthearted.

Well, OWB is super fun and hilarious, so I think you'll love it then. (and the voice acting is great too!)

I didn't think Honest Hearts was boring at all! Maybe people are misconstruing boring with easy? Because i found the gameplay very easy, but teh story was very interesting and I loved the characters. It was the only DLC I placed multiple times to see all the endings.

I was deeply saddened that Joshua Graham could not, in fact, become my waifu.

It was easy as sin, though, yeah.
