Yeah, this. Bechdel test doesn't mean "feminist test". It's just a way of determining whether or not there is female presence in a movie, which can be a part of determining its feminism but not necessarily. There's always going to be some subjectivity and personal preference to determining if something is feminist, but the Mako Mori thing just seems like a kneejerk reaction to Pacific Rim failing the Bechdel test but fans still desperate to insist that it is feminist.

The Bechdel test is to feminism as BMI is to obesity: not a reliable indicator of anything on an individual level, but that doesn't stop most people from using it that way.
