Yeah as far as I'm concerned, Christmas is basically a secular holiday that may have religious significance if you choose to believe it does. Its popular mythology (Santa, reindeer and elves) are a completely non-religious explanation for Christmas.

That being said, if OP is non-Western, there's a good chance it's not even celebrated in their country, so if it isn't part of their culture I can understand feeling a little isolated.

Actually Santa is Saint Nicholas, the Christian saint, the patron saint of children. He liked to give gifts to people, leaving coins in their shoes and so on. One of my favorite stories about him is the one where he saves three kids from a cannibal butcher! Crazy shit, that St. Nick!

Sort of not really. His name derives from Saint Nicholas, but not his character. The character is a mixture of folkloric and pop culture. Nothing to do with the Christian saint's mythology.
