I wouldn't sweat it. Ostensibly Christian holidays like Christmas are frequently treated as a secular holiday. I'm an atheist and while I don't put up a Christmas tree or decorations, I still have a holiday dinner and exchange presents with my family.

Yeah as far as I'm concerned, Christmas is basically a secular holiday that may have religious significance if you choose to believe it does. Its popular mythology (Santa, reindeer and elves) are a completely non-religious explanation for Christmas.

That being said, if OP is non-Western, there's a good chance it's not even celebrated in their country, so if it isn't part of their culture I can understand feeling a little isolated.

Actually Santa is Saint Nicholas, the Christian saint, the patron saint of children. He liked to give gifts to people, leaving coins in their shoes and so on. One of my favorite stories about him is the one where he saves three kids from a cannibal butcher! Crazy shit, that St. Nick!

Sort of not really. His name derives from Saint Nicholas, but not his character. The character is a mixture of folkloric and pop culture. Nothing to do with the Christian saint's mythology.

Isn't Christmas essentially Yule anyway? I still put up a tree and decorations and celebrate the day. It's not about religion to me but celebrating that the darkest part of the year is over with my family and friends.

Not...quite? I mean, Christmas falls when it does because of Yule, and it borrows elements from it, but Yule is on the actual solstice, so it falls a few days before the 25th. People who celebrate Yule don't celebrate it the same day as Christmas or in the same way.

Yeah, this. (Even for Christians there are secular aspects to the holiday, too.)

Hey, I'm agnostic and I put up a tree. But that's just because I LOVE TO DECORATE 8D.

Ahem...yeah.
